Should I pick OFX or IIF?

OFX for QuickBooks Online — its bank-upload flow accepts OFX files. IIF for QuickBooks Desktop, whose File → Utilities → Import path expects Intuit’s own tab-delimited format. The IIF account name is taken from your statement’s source, so the rows land somewhere recognizable.

The answer depends on the file, not the bank. CSV, Excel, OFX, and QIF exports parse cleanly wherever they come from — essentially every bank with online banking offers at least one. PDF statements are layout-driven: standard tabular layouts parse well, and the parser reports its confidence.

Is my statement uploaded anywhere?

Parsing and conversion run in your browser. The one exception: password-protected PDFs are sent over HTTPS to be unlocked in server memory, then discarded — nothing is written to disk, nothing is kept.
